The iPhone converts photos to JPG automatically when sharing to non-Apple devices — but only if you leave the setting alone. To force it explicitly:
- Open the photo in the Photos app and tap Share.
- Tap Options at the very top of the share sheet.
- Set Format to Automatic — the iPhone detects the recipient can't read HEIC and sends JPG instead.
- Send via Mail, Messages, or save to Files.
Limitation: this works per share, one batch at a time, and gives you no quality or size control.
Method 2: Convert in Safari with batch + ZIP (best for many files)
